THE OPERATION

The surgical access may be prevalently via the areola or through the submammary sulcus, while the pocket may be prepared exclusively below the mammary gland if the gland is obvious or partly below the gland, but the upper limit is below the pectoralis major since, if there is little gland or fatty tissue, the upper part of the implant could be visible. Suction drains are often used for 24 hours.

A preventive antibiotic should be started before the operation.

THE OPERATION

The operation is performed under general anaesthetic. Drawings and measurements are an integral and essential part of the operation preparation.

These are carried out before the anaesthetic with the patient in a standing position; these are a guide for the incisions during the operation when the patient is in a recumbent position. the operation consists in removing part of the skin and the underlying tissues of the breast, moving the aureola higher and remodelling the remaining tissues in a smaller and higher arrangement.

Two draining tubes are inserted in the breasts to drain the blood and prevent the occurrence of a haematoma.
